The Legs of Lolth
Sund is generally thought to be the oldest inhabited city in Taragin. Originally built by some forgotten ancient civilization of the jungle, it has been claimed by the Sundis tribe of Yuan-ti for all modern memory. It is the one place in the hidden jungle empire of snakes where outsiders are welcome.
The city is an architectural marvel on par with any in the world. The land beneath it ranges from marshy to deep water. Massive, ancient stone towers perch atop huge columns sunk deep into the underwater soil, while newer towers of wood and brick rise organically from heavy mangrove islands. The spiraling ramps and other curves iconic to Yuan-ti structures are seamlessly integrated with both the ancient stone and living wood.
The main inhabitants of the city are the Yuan-ti above the water and their Skum slave race below, but it is one of the most diverse places in Taragin despite, or perhaps because of, its isolated location. The law of the snake-people is almost no law at all, so miscreants, outcasts, and eccentrics of every kind and race gather here. Sund rivals Resdern for the availability of anything and everything, with even fewer questions asked for those willing to dare the jungle metropolis.
