Eilir: David should get acquainted with his charsheet.
Eilir is speaking :
and languages
Translated Common: and languages
ElectricCaveman: I should find a portrait for Bo-Taar.
Eilir: you should. unless he’s really short, then it can be funny
Campaign saved.
Keah (Eilir): oh wait. goliath. never mind.
ElectricCaveman: Hmmm… There’s a half-orc that could work. Or I could be silly and take something from Modern, M&M, or UnMet.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Something with sunglasses.
Eilir: eh, just give him one for now.
Keah (Eilir): use a picture of a brick.
Keah (Eilir): XD
ElectricCaveman: Sunglasses!
Bo-Taar -> [ATTACK (R)] Javelin (Large) [1d20+5 = 21]
Bo-Taar -> [DAMAGE (M)] Mwk Goliath Greathammer (Large) [MULT:1.5] [TYPE: bludgeoning(x4)] [3d6+7 = 14]
ElectricCaveman: Top hat goliath!
Bo-Taar -> [ATTACK (M)] Mwk Goliath Greathammer (Large) [1d20+9 = 14]
Keah (Eilir): mine’s still sunglasses.
Keah (Eilir): we had a barbarian in a kilt with an eyepatch and a snake skin vest, so why not a tophat?
ElectricCaveman: And fedora.
Keah (Eilir): i knew there was something else. i’m sorry kyle, i forgot about gordun’s fedora.
dublish (Æthelmyr): His Bitchin’ Fedora.
Keah (Eilir): indeed
ElectricCaveman: Sumo?
Keah (Eilir): lol
Campaign saved.
Keah (Eilir): i sent the Races of Stone PDF to sam so david can read it on her mac.
ElectricCaveman: Father Bo-Taar.
ElectricCaveman: I am having too much fun with portraits.
Keah (Eilir): lulz
Keah (Eilir): just pick one for him.
ElectricCaveman: Soap Opera Bo-Taar.
Keah (Eilir): XD i vote that one.
Keah (Eilir): well while we’re waiting, i’m going to move to my customary place downstairs.
Campaign saved.
DM: I guess we could start without Matt, since he’s currently separated from the party anyway. We don’t have much to do without him, though.
dublish (Æthelmyr): What exactly were we doing, anyway?
Keah (Eilir): i think we got to eating dinner after playing with the magical sandals before stuff started going awry.
DM: You were sitting at your fairly nice inn, eating a hardy meal and being in no way interrupted by odd strangers trying awkwardly to drop plot hooks.
ElectricCaveman: hearty meal?
ElectricCaveman: harty meal. it’s got deer.
Keah (Eilir): i think hearty is the appropriate term. lol
Æthelmyr: Wow, this meal is…
Æthelmyr: great?
Eilir: Venison is good.
ElectricCaveman: hart hearts, hopefully not hard.
Keah (Eilir): LOTS OF PROTEIN!
ElectricCaveman: More or less than centipede?
Keah (Eilir): more. denser meat.
Æthelmyr: Did we need to sell anything?
Keah (Eilir): Nope. We sold everything we needed to sell.
ElectricCaveman: I think you already did?
Campaign saved.
Eilir makes idle chitchat.
Æthelmyr: Anyone now when Avaril will finish?
Æthelmyr: I bet 5 minutes.
dublish (Æthelmyr): *know
Eilir: I paid for the whole--oh. You mean FINISH. Yeah, I don’t care to speculate on that, thanks.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Typing with one hand is slow and awkward.
Campaign saved.
So, you spend the evening relaxing, alternately making jokes at Avaril’s expense and trying very hard not to think about what he’s doing. Night comes and passes uneventfully, in no way rocked by surreal, world-warping collective dreams.
Keah (Eilir): lol
Keah (Eilir): did you already rest us? i forget.
Sam (Bo-Taar): haha
DM: nope
dublish (Æthelmyr): I’m guessing no.
Eilir -> Resting.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Also, I’m done with food and am now typing with 2 hands.
Æthelmyr -> Resting.
Keah (Eilir): i have all my spells, is why i asked.
dublish (Æthelmyr): So hooray.
Xenia -> Resting.
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: Let’s go extract Avaril then.
[w] -> Xenia: While you are engaging in your morning prayer routine, in addition to your daily spells, Ehlonna sends you a simple message to seek her out before crossing the desert.
Eilir: I suppose we can’t just leave him here. Let’s go.
[w] -> Bo-Taar: You have been in town for a couple days, looking for a group to travel with. Most of them are fairly unsavory, so when you hear there is a cleric of Ehlonna traveling through with a small band, you seek them out to see if they will let you accompany them.
[w] -> Bo-Taar: When they come out from their inn this morning, you are waiting for them. You assume that they are on a pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Lady of the Oasis, a large desert shrine to Ehlonna less then a day’s journey away.
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: Yes.
Æthelmyr: Because going is the thing that we should be doing.
[w] Xenia: this is sam. by seek her out, does that mean at a temple, or just through meditation? or is it supposed to be up to Xenia’s interpretation?
Æthelmyr: We go.
Eilir leads, since she knows where we’re going.
[w] -> Xenia: I was going to leave it to your interpretation, but since you can see the whispers to David, too, I think you can guess where this is leading.
Bo-Taar: Greetings, travelers
DM: A large man, one of the mountain nomads known as Goliaths, approaches the three of you. He is moderately armored, and carries a massively oversized warhammer.
Eilir: Woah… Hello.
‘dublish’ reconnected
Æthelmyr: How tall are you?
Keah (Eilir): 7ft?
Bo-Taar: I am Bo-Taar. And I have been looking for you
Bo-Taar: And I am 7’5"
Keah (Eilir): XD
Æthelmyr (whispering to everyone else): Did we do anything to make a giant come looking for us?
Eilir: We must be some of the moust sought-after people around.
Xenia: I don’t think so…
Sam (Xenia): this screen trading thing is strange…
Keah (Eilir): you’ll get used to it. probably.
Campaign saved.
Xenia looks way up at Bo-Taar, straining her neck slightly.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Let’s all chip in and get David his own license!
Xenia: Looking for us? Why were you looking for us?
Keah (Eilir): it doesn’t work on sam’s mac, though.
Bo-Taar: I have heard one of you worships Ehlana?
Xenia: (squeaks) Thats me!
Æthelmyr points at Xenia.
Bo-Taar walks right up to Xenia and looks down.
Eilir: Yep. That’s you.
Bo-Taar: Nice to meet you.
ElectricCaveman: /m (squeaks) can make you squeak, or any number of other things.
Bo-Taar: I have been trying to find a group to travel with, but this town is full of dishonorable city-dwellers.
Eilir: Where are you headed?
Bo-Taar: Anywhere.
Æthelmyr: What’s wrong with city-dwellers?
Æthelmyr: Can you fight?
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: Why exactly are you so tall?
Bo-Taar snorts.
Bo-Taar: Does it look like I can fight, puny lizard female?
Æthelmyr: Lizard!
Æthelmyr: Well.
ElectricCaveman: lol. lizard female.
Eilir was going to say something but decided to just let this play out.
Æthelmyr is quite annoyed.
Æthelmyr: I’m part dragon!
Eilir is quite amused.
Xenia is rather glad the attention has been diverted away from her, and slowly backs up.
Æthelmyr: Lizards are little pipsqueaks that don’t have wings!
Eilir: So you’re part magical flying lizard then.
Æthelmyr: Hmph.
Bo-Taar: Forgive me, small dragon girl.
Eilir: Seriously, though, that hammer is as big as you are.
Bo-Taar: Indeed.
ElectricCaveman: And it weighs literally half as much as her.
Æthelmyr: OK. So he fights. With a hammer. OK. I forgive you.
Eilir: Well, it couldn’t hurt to have a little more muscle around.
Eilir: Or a lot.
Eilir: We are a dangerous group to travel with, but so long as you don’t mind that, I don’t see a reason you can’t come along with us.
Bo-Taar: I am honored. It will be good to get out of this city
ElectricCaveman: It’s amazing how much less paranoid you are aroud PC strangers than NPC strangers…
Æthelmyr: You’re not going to have a problem ducking into small doorways, are you?
Bo-Taar: I am used to ducking.
Keah (Eilir): i figured we’d just move this along this time, instead of going round and round. XD
Campaign saved.
dublish (Æthelmyr): We need Matt.
Bo-Taar: The Shrine of the Lady of the Oasis is not far from here, it will take less than a day to get there.
Æthelmyr: The What to the Who now?
Bo-Taar: Isn’t that where you are going?
Eilir: Oases would be a good way to move through the desert.
ElectricCaveman: That’s right. First day in the game, and David is assigned to move the plot along.
Eilir: How do you know where we’re going?
Xenia: I assumed a cleric of Ehlana would want to visit.
Sam (Xenia): ahhhhhh
Keah (Eilir): Oh did you now, Xenia? XD
Sam (Xenia): our first mistake.
Xenia: There is a Shrine to Ehlonna in the desert? How wonderful. During my meditations this morning, I recieved instruction to seek Her out. It seems we were meant to meet you, Bo-Taar.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Lulz.
Æthelmyr: Really.
Æthelmyr is skeptical.
‘Keah’ reconnected
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: That’s awfully…. convenient.
Keah (Eilir): i got disconnected because i tried to move into the kitchen…
Keah (Eilir): did i miss anything after "our first mistake" ?
Sam (Xenia): during my meditations, Ehlonna told me to seek her out.
Keah (Eilir): oh. okay.
Sam (Xenia): and Aethelmyr is skeptical.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Xenia’s trying to convince everyone that she received divine instructions to go to the Shrine.
dublish (Æthelmyr): I bet she just wants to hang out with David. :P
Eilir: Well, we shouldn’t question a goddess.
Eilir: Er… at least not Xenia’s.
ElectricCaveman: We will have a Kalyn soon, but I/we still need to update his character.
Xenia: She works in mysterious ways.
Keah (Eilir): lolth is an exception.
Xenia looks at the 7 foot tall grey mottled skin giant man with rocky protrusions allover in slight disbelief
Sam (Xenia): that sentence got a little wonky there.
[TOWER] GM -> [3d8 = 16]
Eilir: So… Avaril should be… somewhere around here.
Keah (Eilir): unless we’re not in the redlight district yet.
DM: Sure. Walking and talking, three young women casually strolling amongst the brothels with a 7-and-a-half foot nomad with an oversized weapon.
Keah (Eilir): XD perfect
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: Weapon.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Heh.
Keah (Eilir): ^^;
dublish (Æthelmyr): Peter said it.
Keah (Eilir): lol it’s even a hammer.
Keah (Eilir): ANYWAY
ElectricCaveman: The hammer is his…
Keah (Eilir): boomstick?
Campaign saved.
DM: Shall we assume you drag a very self-satisfied Avaril away from his painted elf companion and continue into the desert to the accompaniment of his crass and unsubtle innuendo?
Keah (Eilir): Yes.
Sam (Bo-Taar): sounds good.
dublish (Æthelmyr): OK.
You find the correct brothel, and proceed to drag a very self-satisfied Avaril away from his painted elf companion. The five of you continue into the desert to the accompaniment of Avaril’s crass and unsubtle innuendo.
Eilir: Well, it’s much hotter here than in the mountains.
Æthelmyr: I don’t like it.
Eilir: The fur cloak goes into my backpack.
Æthelmyr: Whose idea was this?
Bo-Taar: Mine.
Eilir: Corysan and Traoren’s.
Bo-Taar: Well, mine. But he thought it was ours.
Sam (Bo-Taar): DANG IT!
Æthelmyr: They should come here and do this themselves.
Sam (Bo-Taar): im buying my own copy - David
Keah (Eilir): lol
Keah (Eilir): light license is cheap.
Campaign saved.
Eilir: So how far out is this oasis, Bo-Taar?
Bo-Taar: Less than a day.
[w] Bo-Taar: do I know the way?
[w] -> Bo-Taar: You know the general direction and distance.
Keah (Eilir): i feel like we should’ve bought another map…
Keah (Eilir): too late now
Bo-Taar: However, navigating in this infernal flatness is hard. I only know it is That Way.
Bo-Taar points That Way
DM: Someone should make a Survival check to hope you don’t get lost.
Æthelmyr -> [SKILL] Survival [1d20+1 = 18]
Æthelmyr: Ah, yes.
Æthelmyr: That Way.
Eilir -> [SKILL] Survival [1d20+1 = 20]
Campaign saved.
Xenia -> [SKILL] Survival [1d20+4 = 20]
DM: You all have no problem maintaining travel in a straight line through the wastes.
Keah (Eilir): oh good
DM: As you are wandering through the sandy expanse of nothing, a sudden bang rings out. Seven Drow, six men and a woman, appear to your right out of nothing.
Drow Sorceress is speaking :
Obtain them for me.
Translated Elven: Obtain them for me.
Eilir: Of course.
Keah (Eilir): i’m eating, so bear with me on reaction times and stuff.
DM: Place yourselves in marching order and roll initiatives.
Keah (Eilir): i’m guessing aethelmyr was lagging behind. avaril may have been as well.
Æthelmyr: [1d20 = 17]
Bo-Taar -> [INIT] [1d20+2 = 10]
Eilir -> [INIT] [1d20+2 = 12]
Xenia -> [INIT] [1d20+1 = 13]
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr -> [INIT] [1d20+4 = 17]
dublish (Æthelmyr): Fuck you, dice.
Eilir: they wanted you to have 17 init
dublish (Æthelmyr): Also, what gave us a morale bonus?
Keah (Eilir): because ooc is for pansies.
Keah (Eilir): bless. from last timr.
DM: No idea. It’s probably hold-over from the Wendigo fight and needs to be cleared.

DM: The sorceress casts a spell.
Eilir -> [SKILL] Spellcraft [1d20+8 = 28]
Keah (Eilir): wow. i hope i got to make that check.
[w] -> Eilir: She casted a Shield spell.
DM: The other drow all use their Darkness power, casting a murky gloom over the battlefield.
Sam (Xenia): so, can I see with my lowlight vision?
Campaign saved.
DM: Nope. Magical darkness blocks even Darkvision. Everything within the now-shaded area has concealment (20% miss, an option on the modifiers tab)
[ROUND 1]
[TURN] Drow Sorceress

Keah (Eilir): how does the sand affect our movement?
DM: It’s hard-packed here, no penalty.
Keah (Eilir): okay.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Will Color Spray work if they can’t see me?
DM: They can see you. And it would anyway. They just have to be able to see, and be in the area of effect.
Campaign saved.
Keah (Eilir): how far in this can we see? 5’?
dublish (Æthelmyr): Hm.
DM: You can still see as far as normal. Just not well.
Keah (Eilir): oh. okay.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Fuck it. I don’t move.

DM: None of the elves fall asleep. Because they’ll always still be elves.
dublish (Æthelmyr): I don’t know how to only make an attack apply to a certain amount of HD. But that’s a 10 ft. burst.
Keah (Eilir): …
Æthelmyr: GODDAMN IT FUCK YOU AND YOUR STUPID RULES I HATE ELVES.
Sam (Bo-Taar): is this the 3rd or 4th time?
dublish (Æthelmyr): Ahem.
Keah (Eilir): I think it’s only the second.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Yes.
dublish (Æthelmyr): No, that’s the third.

[TURN] Xenia
Keah (Eilir): he just barely got me on BOTH rolls…
ElectricCaveman: No, net was a touch attack. He had plenty.
Bo-Taar: I cast Entangle at the drow mass.
Keah (Eilir): oh yeah. missed that it was touch.
DM: You are on sand and dirt, no meaningful vegetation to entangle with.
Sam (Xenia): oh right. crap. cactus?
Keah (Eilir): we’re bad at sand and elves.
DM: Nope.
Sam (Xenia): I don’t know how to delete circles.
ElectricCaveman: But entangling cacti could be fun…
Keah (Eilir): they could.

Bo-Taar: +4 str, +4 con, -2 AC, for 9 rounds?
dublish (Æthelmyr): It increases your strength and constitution, so you get hp, higher attack bonus and more damage, but lose AC.
David (Bo-Taar): whoops
dublish (Æthelmyr): Lag is crazy.
Keah (Eilir): the extra STR can also make up for some power attack, if you have that feat.

dublish (Æthelmyr): Oh wait, I didn’t account for the possibility of a critical.
ElectricCaveman: That probably about balances, since it’s 3 times as likely versus 3 times as many attacks.

Keah (Eilir): can’t wait until i get to quick cast.
Keah (Eilir): i know, right? can I spend PP to reroll it?

David (Bo-Taar): that feels SO GOOD!
David (Bo-Taar): very satisfying
Sam (Xenia): he’s 1:1 for misses and kills
DM: Bo-Taar crushes the body of another shadow-elf with his massive hammer.

Keah (Eilir): that’s what barbs do.
Keah (Eilir): and rage.
ElectricCaveman: And he’s not even using power attack
Matt (Avaril the Average): Yeah, being a big badass melee character always feels good when you kill things. I do like the "kill every motherfucker in the room" power of spellcasters though. There’s just something to be said about killing an entire town at once.

Keah (Eilir): i’m so sad my reroll was crap… T_T
Eilir: Well… let’s pick up the pieces.
Keah (Eilir): any loot dropped?
Xenia: What pieces? Everyone disappeared!
Æthelmyr kicks at the sand where the sorceress stood, hoping something was dropped.
DM: Each of the six males has a net, a sap, a sai, and three darts. The sorceress left behind the wand she dropped when stunned, but nothing else.
Eilir stuffs Bilyeklo into her belt.

Æthelmyr rolls her eyes.

Æthelmyr (muttering): We could have taken them. Stupid hammer.
Eilir: Well, I don’t feel like hauling around extra armour. Or washing the blood off of them…
Eilir: Don’t be jealous, Æthelmyr. You don’t like getting hurt, and he’ll help make it so we don’t as much.
Æthelmyr: Me neither. None of that will sell for much unless it’s magical.
Avaril the Average: So… Who are you?
ElectricCaveman: The soap opera portrait is so wierd…
Æthelmyr: Yes, mother.
Sam (Xenia): it really is.
ElectricCaveman: I do a double-take every time I notice it.

Keah (Eilir): the portrait, not avaril.
Avaril the Average: I am Avaril. And I’m surprised you didn’t partake. You look the type…

Bo-Taar gives Avaril a look
Æthelmyr: So…
Æthelmyr: Bo-Taar, where do you come from?
Eilir: So… Shall we continue?
Avaril the Average: Yes, yes they can. You look imposing but perhaps you are weaker than our friend here…
Avaril the Average gestures at Eilir.
David (Bo-Taar): i dont have a backstory yet ahhhh! also i dont have a map
Avaril the Average: But yes, let’s move on.
dublish (Æthelmyr): www.obsidianportal.com
Campaign saved.
Eilir: Who’s weak, Wizard?
Eilir: Also, he just smashed two drow on his own.
Bo-Taar walks right up in Avarils face
You continue on over the barren land.
Bo-Taar: Is that a challenge?
Avaril the Average: You. You lack resolve and a willingness to do whatever it takes.
Avaril the Average: No, I’m not stupid enough to challenge you in a fair fight.
Æthelmyr: Whatever it takes to do… what?
Eilir: Says the one who didn’t even want to be involved in this.
Avaril the Average: I’ll remind you I was dragged along. So, lead on…
Eilir: No one dragged you anywhere. I knew we should’ve left you in town.
You walk uneventfully over the edge of the desert. Late afternoon, you spy a patch of verdant green over the low rolling hills.
Eilir: Is that it?
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr -> [SKILL] Spot [1d20+9 = 28]
Æthelmyr: Could be a mirage. Hold on.
Æthelmyr -> [SKILL] Sense Motive [1d20+2 = 6]
Æthelmyr: Yeah, that’s it. Definitely not a mirage.
ElectricCaveman: The desert is conning to you.
ElectricCaveman: *conning you
Keah (Eilir): Did you just sense motive on the desert? XD
Sam (Xenia): haha
ElectricCaveman: changing sentences mid-stream is a bad idea.
Æthelmyr: No, wait, that is totally a mirage!
Sam (Xenia): we have gotten reeeeeeally suspicious lately.
Eilir: Well, let’s keep heading that way.
dublish (Æthelmyr): I’m going to be rolling Sense Motive checks against everybody we meet forever.
Keah (Eilir): you didn’t roll on bo-taar.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Because that’s how you would do it in real life.
dublish (Æthelmyr): I meta’d Bo-Taar. He’s honest.
Keah (Eilir): lol
Keah (Eilir): or IS he?
dublish (Æthelmyr): David, are you telling the truth about Bo-Taar not having a backstory?
DM: As you near the oasis, you see that it is lightly guarded. A few lookout towers of native wood stand around the large green patch. A sandstone pillar stands by a small pond in the center.
David (Bo-Taar): yeah not yet
Matt (Avaril the Average): Bo-Taar’s backstory is that he’s a dragon slayer. And you are fucked.
Campaign saved.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Lulz.
David (Bo-Taar): working on it, didnt even commit until tonight
Eilir: I make my way to the fortifications and hail whoever’s up there.
Xenia: I follow her closely.
Æthelmyr: That was a lot of sand.
Æthelmyr: Are there many places like this in the desert?
Eilir -> [SKILL] Knowledge [1d20+2 = 20]
DM: A dark-skinned man waves back, and shouts at someone inside. A few moments later, a half-giant comes out to greet you.
Xenia: Dear, I believe sand IS the defining characteristic of the desert.
Eilir: I think she was asking about the oases.
Sam (Xenia): haha, I think I misunderstood you. but it works ok for xenia.
Æthelmyr: Whoa. That’s even bigger than Bo-Taar!
Xenia: Oh, right. Hah hah.
Xenia looks like she feels silly.
Keah (Eilir): any sentries respond to my hail?
dublish (Æthelmyr): Yes.
Sarshan: Greetings, travelers. I am Sarshan, the cleric presiding over the shrine here. If you come peacefully, you are welcome to rest here as long as you need.
Eilir: We do come peacefully, sir.
Xenia: We most certainly come in peace.
Xenia: I am a cleric of Ehlonna, and I seek the presence of the goddess here.
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: Are there shrines at other oases?
Æthelmyr: How many other oases are there?
Sarshan: Of course. Welcome, sister, and friends.
Æthelmyr: Are there any other shrines here?
Æthelmyr: I’m Æthelmyr, by the way.
Sarshan: There are many oases, with many people doing many things, but they are little relief in the vast desert. Here, we keep only a shrine for Ehlonna, praying for her blessing to keep the desert springs fertile.
Æthelmyr: That’s nice of her to do that for you.
Matt (Avaril the Average): FINALLY got portraits. And the rest of the conversation. FG locked up for a little bit.
Matt (Avaril the Average): But man, that Bo-Taar….
Æthelmyr: Do you have much non-human blood in you?
Æthelmyr: You’re very… big.
David (Bo-Taar): i have no portraits =(
Sarshan: My parents were both half desert giant.
Matt (Avaril the Average): HA! Well just give it two hours.
Æthelmyr: Wow. Do many giants live in the desert?
Æthelmyr: Do many dragons live in the desert?
Æthelmyr: I heard some do, and I think I’d like to meet some.
Sarshan: Many of both, but not compared to the smaller residents, as all other places.
Æthelmyr: Has a dragon come by here recently?
Avaril the Average: You have inane questions for every conceivable situation don’t you?
Avaril the Average: And even some that are unthinkable.
Xenia: She has a gift.
Sarshan: No, friend, none has.
Æthelmyr: Inane?
Æthelmyr: Oh, that’s too bad.
Eilir: It means silly and unimportant.
Æthelmyr: We met a dragon in the mountains a couple of days ago.
Æthelmyr: Yes, I know what inane means.
Avaril the Average: It means you’re a complete fool.
Campaign saved.
Sarshan: Now, if you’ll forgive me, I must attend to others. If you have more questions, you can find me later.
Æthelmyr: He said he was going to the desert, and left us behind yesterday.
Æthelmyr: I am not a fool.
Æthelmyr: You’re just boring.
Æthelmyr: Boring, boring, boring.
Sarshan: Before I leave you, though, do you know a ranger who calls himself Denzil?
Æthelmyr: You’d feel foolish if Bob had been here and you didn’t know it.
Xenia: Denzil!!!?
Eilir: Yes. Has he passed through here?
Sarshan: Save for the Goliath in your band, I would assume you are the ones he has been waiting for.
Æthelmyr: Denzil? That name rings a bell…
Xenia: Yes, he’s a recent addition. Denzil is here!
Xenia: How did he get here before us?
Eilir: Isaac, probably.
Xenia pauses to remember all their misadventures
Æthelmyr: We stopped in Duvik’s Pass for, like, a week.
Xenia: Ah yes.
Æthelmyr: Stupid kobolds.
Sarshan: He is inside, by the pond last I saw. You will find him easily enough. Welcome, again, friends. Now I must leave you for now.
Eilir: Let’s go find Denzil!
David (Bo-Taar): i gotta sleep here pretty soon, 6:30AM is coming too soon
dublish (Æthelmyr): 6:30? Damn.
Keah (Eilir): government + commute
Sam (Xenia): if he goes early, he misses most of the traffic.
Matt (Avaril the Average): + ?
Matt (Avaril the Average): + breakfast?
Matt (Avaril the Average): SammakeBo-Taareggs.
Campaign saved.
Sam (Xenia): i shudder to think how many eggs Bo-Taar eats
[w] -> Denzil: Isaac left you here a few days ago, assuming Xenia would want to stop on the way through. You have been pursuing demons and other allies of the slaver Isadora with him. You discovered evidence of unknown allies of theirs operating from an old, buried mausoleum in this part of the desert. He wanted you and the others to check it out.
Keah (Eilir): bo-taar eats eggs from large creatures, like gryphons and dragons
Æthelmyr makes her way towards the pond.
Eilir follows happily.
Bo-Taar: Who is this Denzil?
Xenia: He was our fomer traveling companion.
Eilir: He was one of our companions from our hometown.
Æthelmyr: He was the one Isaac left with when we caught up to you, right?
Eilir: Yes.
Xenia: Thats right.
Æthelmyr: That was only…
Æthelmyr tries counting the days it’s been…
Xenia: a few weeks, and a lifetime ago
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: I think it’s only been about two weeks.
Æthelmyr: 11, 12…
Æthelmyr: Whatever. Where is he?
Sam (Xenia): so what do we need to do to wrap up?
Keah (Eilir): get kalyn here so we can reunite with denzil.
ElectricCaveman: Do we need to call it a night for our east-coast players? There’s more story we could do, and more encounters, but this is probably as good a stopping point as any.
Keah (Eilir): that’s fine. cliff-hanger-ish end. oh hey kalyn’s here.
Denzil: hello everyone, sorry i’m late. ;)
Keah (Eilir): was that in character? XD
Sam (Xenia): haha
ElectricCaveman: so, some story, then we’ll break.
Zero (Denzil): that was definitely in character. ;)
Eilir: Denzil! It’s good to see you safe. How was tracking with Isaac?
Campaign saved.
Denzil: ah, well, good enough. There of course are some exciting details but suffice to say I learned alot and well, i’m still here so.
Eilir: So, you met Æthelmyr last time. This here is Bo-Taar. We met him in town.
Eilir gestures to Bo-Taar.
Bo-Taar nods gravely.
Eilir: I can’t wait to hear what you’ve been up to. We’ve had quite a trip ourselves.
Denzil: Bo-Taar nice to meet you.
Denzil: Yes, i can’t wait to hear all about it.
Keah (Eilir): two of us are wearing dragon-hide armour, and i have a bow made of dragon bone. we must look like we’ve got stories to tell. XD
Æthelmyr: I don’t know if I’ve ever met you, Denzil…
Sarshan approaches your group as you are chatting.
Sarshan: I am sorry to interrupt. May I speak to you for a moment, sister?
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: Well, maybe for, like, five seconds when Isaac and I caught you outside Arenal.
Æthelmyr: But not REALLY met.
Æthelmyr: I’m Æthelmyr.
Æthelmyr: You didn’t go through Duvik’s Pass to get here, did you?
Denzil: Well met Æthelmyr.
Æthelmyr: We did, and it was TERRIBLE.
Æthelmyr: There was plague, stupid kobolds infesting the mines, more plague…
Xenia: Of course, brother.
Denzil: yes yes, sounds very interesting.
Æthelmyr: Avaril probably almost died, he’s done that a couple of times.
Xenia steps away from the group
Eilir: Several times, yes.
Æthelmyr: I heard he ran into the wrong side of a boar once.
Sarshan guides Xenia out of earshot.
Æthelmyr: Were you there when that happened?
Denzil: sounds like Avaril.
Eilir: He did save us in that crypt, though.
Æthelmyr: Actually, I’ve almost died a couple of times… but enough about that.
Æthelmyr: Where were we?
Æthelmyr: Right, Duvik’s Pass.
Æthelmyr: How’d you get through the mountains?
Æthelmyr: Did you meet any dragons?
Avaril the Average: I will kill you.
Æthelmyr: We met a dragon called Bob.
Æthelmyr: You’re not going to kill anyone.
Avaril the Average: I will wait until you’re asleep and rip out your tongue so you can never speak again.
Eilir: Avaril, why don’t you go kick back by the pool here and have a drink?
Avaril the Average: Then I will slit your throat open and put it in there.
Æthelmyr: Now be quiet, Denzil is telling us where he went.
Keah (Eilir): XD right. denzil’s talking to us.
Æthelmyr: So, like I was saying, we met Bob the dragon in the mountains.
Æthelmyr: Have you ever seen a dragon?
dublish (Æthelmyr): Well, maybe he should. :P
[w] -> Xenia: I am sorry to bother you with this, but a serious problem has presented itself. It is beyond my personal collection of talents. I was hoping, as a fellow devotee of Ehlonna, you and your companions might be able to take care of it.
dublish (Æthelmyr): I can keep going, otherwise.
Keah (Eilir): I think he might be a little overwhelmed.
Zero (Denzil): im laughing so hard right now, haha
[w] -> Xenia: I understand if you are too busy, but this is a matter for Ehlonna’s clerics, and I am helpless to solve this problem myself.
Æthelmyr: We found dragons, fey, weird spirit things that talked to me in my head, all very, um… exciting?
[w] Xenia: Well, if you tell me what the problem is, I can relay it to my companions, and we might take it on.
Campaign saved.
Denzil: yes, exciting indeed
Eilir: And there was the vargouille and orcs and that zombie before we even GOT to Duvik’s pass.
Æthelmyr: Actually, the telepathic spirit wasn’t very fun at all.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Who’s Peter talking to?
Keah (Eilir): Sam.
[w] -> Xenia: Something is happening to other oases nearby. They have dried up completely, three of them. The wildlife is suffering, and even the wandering tribes are feeling its effects.
Eilir: I got this from an orc.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Oh, right.
Eilir holds up Bilyeklo.
Æthelmyr: You should talk to Avaril about the vargouille.
Æthelmyr: I think he got the closest look at it.
Keah (Eilir): it’s a heavy sickle made from a white dragon’s fang. or claw. can’t remember.
Denzil: haha, i’m sure he did.
[w] Xenia: OH, how terrible! Of course we will help! I mean…I will talk to my companions, but I see no reason why they would disagree with me.
Denzil: and wow, Bilyeklo looks pretty awesome
Eilir: So what did you and Isaac get up to? Did you catch that demon bird thing?
Sarshan: Thank you! I have a good idea what is happening. It will get you well on your way. And I will see that your friends are compensated. I will also interceed with the local tribes, if you need.
ElectricCaveman: whispered…
Keah (Eilir): lol
Æthelmyr: SHH! Quiet, everyone.
Æthelmyr: I think I heard somebody mention compensation.
Eilir: Are you hearing voices again?
Æthelmyr: No, I don’t think so…
[w] Xenia: Oh, that would be helpful. Unless it is critically urgent that we leave right away, I would like to spend the evening here, and depart after dawn, perhaps tomorrow. This will give us a chance to rest, and me a chance to meditate more fully.
Campaign saved.
[w] -> Xenia: Of course. I will help you prepare how I can.
Keah (Eilir): i guess denzil isn’t going to tell us what he got up to. :(
[w] Xenia: I will go speak to my companions, and when they agree, perhaps you can tell us all your ideas about the cause of the trouble.
Avaril the Average: I would like to be paid for our services, yes.
[w] -> Xenia: Thank you greatly.
Eilir: We know. You have to get something for everything you do.
Eilir: Something material, preferably alcoholic or female.
Xenia walks back over to the group.
Eilir: Everything okay, Xenia?
Æthelmyr: Oh, Xenia, I didn’t notice you leave!
Xenia: With me, yes. But Brother Sarshan tells me that the other oases in this area are drying up. The local wildlife and even some tribes are suffering.
Zero (Denzil): idk what lines up with Peters story or if i can just make it up myself, haha
Denzil: well, thats not good
dublish (Æthelmyr): Make it up.
[w] -> Denzil: You fell of Skype. Here’s what I sent you there: You were traveling with Isaac chasing Isadora and trying to uncover her allies and supporters. They are mostly demons. He sent you to investigate another group under the desert. Anything you make up that is in line with that works for me. If it doesn’t, I’ll speak up.
Keah (Eilir): lol we’ll get your story later then. like david’s backstory.
Xenia: He thinks we might be able to help.
Eilir: Does he know what’s causing it? You make it sound unnatural.
Xenia: He has a few ideas regarding the cause, but I asked him to tell us all at once, later tonight, after we’ve rested.
dublish (Æthelmyr): You single-handedly fought off the hobgoblin hordes of Bakad-thum, then slew the Beholder in the Cavern of Ulkedenab.
Avaril the Average: ALCOHOLIC!?
Avaril the Average: YES!
dublish (Æthelmyr): All in 13 days, and then you came here.
Avaril the Average grabs a bottle of his whiskey and starts to drink.
Eilir (half sarcastic): Is it orcs again?
dublish (Æthelmyr): You traveled around by teleportation, naturally, so alas, no dragon-meetings in the mountains.
Xenia: I hope not.
Campaign saved.
Avaril the Average offers to Eilir.
Avaril the Average: Take some!
Eilir wrinkles her nose.
dublish (Æthelmyr): However, you attended a council of storm giants on the top of Mount Relvak. So, that kind of balances it out.
Eilir: Pass. You enjoy it. More for you.
Avaril the Average: It’s deli… It’s booze!
Sam (Xenia): Okay, so, do you want to learn Sarshan’s suspicions tonight? Or stop here?
Avaril the Average: You destroy the joy of any social gathering…
Avaril the Average drinks more.
Keah (Eilir): We can stop here. David needs to sleep.
Eilir: I’m not stopping you from drinking, am I?
David (Bo-Taar): sleeeeeeep
Avaril the Average: peeeeeeeeeeeels
dublish (Æthelmyr): Sleep then.
Keah (Eilir): When are we having our next session?
Keah (Eilir): will sunday afternoons work for people, barring kyle having a bad schedule?
dublish (Æthelmyr): I’ve got Saturday the 19th off…
Keah (Eilir): i’m done with work! yay!
Avaril the Average: I’ve got Saturday the Saturday off.
Keah (Eilir): looking for another job, but not one that makes me work weekend.
dublish (Æthelmyr): I work evenings this FridaySaturdaySundayMonday.
Matt (Avaril the Average): I know one that only has you work an hour or two every night.
ElectricCaveman: boo.
Sam (Xenia): probably sat and sun will be best for david. And I’ve got late class Mon Wed Thurs this semester. so those are always out.
dublish (Æthelmyr): Tuesday eveing 1/15?
Matt (Avaril the Average): Gopher… : |
dublish (Æthelmyr): Lame.
Matt (Avaril the Average): I might be able to juggle (I CAN) but it’ll be very…
Matt (Avaril the Average): Inattentive.
Keah (Eilir): kyle, switch with someone next sunday.
Keah (Eilir): you’ve done it before.
Campaign saved.
dublish (Æthelmyr): I’ll see what I can do, but no guarantees.
Matt (Avaril the Average): Force them with physical violence.
Bo-Taar: I can play every night 5-11PM EST, plus weekends
Keah (Eilir): well there we go.
Matt (Avaril the Average): HIGH FIVE ME TOO!
Matt (Avaril the Average): m-f9-6
dublish (Æthelmyr): That’s 10-7 EST.
Keah (Eilir): so we’ll figure it out later. you go get some sleep. and yay for playing your first session of D&D, david!
Matt (Avaril the Average): Or 7-4PST
dublish (Æthelmyr): Weekends will always work best, so I’m causing all the problems. :(

Keah (Eilir): and welcome back kalyn!
dublish (Æthelmyr): Hooray David!
Xenia: yay!
David (Bo-Taar): and I got to kill things woooo
dublish (Æthelmyr): Hooray Kalyn!
Keah (Eilir): you kill things very well.
Xenia: alright, night guys!
Keah (Eilir): g’night!
dublish (Æthelmyr): Good night!
David (Bo-Taar): o/
