Last time on… The Legs of Lolth:
DSM (Avaril the Average): ALL MY DICE ARE HIGH UP!
DSM (Avaril the Average): Fuck simulated physics, I can still have it my way.
Denzil: [1d20 = 10]
Æthelmyr: [1d20 = 10]
Campaign saved.
DM: Arda brought you all into her ambush. She turned Aethelmyr into a lizard and Xenia into a statue, before turning herself into a massive snake-woman and trying to crush Denzil. Meanwhile, Eilir and Bo-Taar had been cut off from the main battle and went downstairs. They found several cages filled with people, and an abstract glass statue suffused with magic. Bo-Taar smashed the statue, and with a flash of magic and a resounding crack like thunder, we left things on a cliffhanger.
Keah (Eilir): And the flash of magic was pink!
dublish (Æthelmyr): Right.
dublish (Æthelmyr): So now what.
Keah (Eilir): now we find out what we just did?
Keah (Eilir): everything is undone and arda loses all her power. we win!
DSM (Avaril the Average): Unlikely.
Campaign saved.
DM: The light and sound last only an instant, and when they fade, the whole temple has vanished, leaving a deep pit in the soil. Those on the floor above fall to the bottom.
DM: Aethelmyr, Avaril, and Denzil take falling damage.
DM: [1d6 = 4]
dublish (Æthelmyr): Should I do that or will you?

DM: You’re all now on the bottom of a great pit, with walls and floor of soft earth. The pit is some 30 ft. deep. Almost everything from the temple has vanished, save for the people and the cages.
Eilir: Good job, Bo-taar! We got rid of the temple!
Bo-Taar bows
Bo-Taar: I didnt know this would happen though
Keah (Eilir): I loosened it for you by heaving against it a couple times.

DM: As you argue over Arda’s sundry possessions, the people in the cages are slowly overcoming their shock. A few in the already broken cages try to make an escape, while the rest weep, cheer, or call out for you to free them, too.
Keah (Eilir): I free the people.
Avaril the Average: What’ll you give us?
Campaign saved.
DM: Eilir goes to the cages, but there is no obvious way to open them.
Keah (Eilir): How rusty are they?
Avaril the Average: What’s freedom worth?
DM: They are well-kept.
DM: With Eilir actively working on one cage, the prisoners are largely ignoring Avaril.
Eilir: Bo-Taar, do you think you could break these cages open?
Campaign saved.
Avaril the Average: Am I the only one interested in the welfare of our group? We have a prime opportunity here to make some coin or get something else of value in return.
Eilir: They’re prisoners! Do they look like they have anything of value?
Avaril the Average: Potentially at home.
Avaril the Average: A prince and a peasant look the same behind bars.
Bo-Taar: I could try smashing the locks
David (Bo-Taar): BO-TAAR SMASH
Eilir: If there were locks, I’d have asked Æthelmyr to… Oh…
Avaril the Average: Fine. Throw away rewards.
Bo-Taar smashes some locks
DM: Bo-Taar hefts his hammer and starts bashing in the bars of the cages. A few moments later, all six bear gaping holes.
Campaign saved.
Eilir asks the people about the adventurers who went missing.
Keah (Eilir): I don’t remember the whole story, so I’ll just go with that general action.
DSM (Avaril the Average): Is there anything to rummage through down here? I want to rummage.
DM: You pin down a few whose wits are more collected than the rest, and they are able to confirm that the people in the missing person posters were there, but that the Drow had taken them all. One they were fairly certain died, but the rest were never seen after she did her experiments.
Eilir: Well… They’ve all found peace. I think.

DM: Many of the freed prisoners are now trying to scramble up out of the pit, but the soft earth has most of them sliding back as far as they manage to climb.
Eilir readies her grappling hook.

DM: The next morning, much of the punishment Arda meted out has faded, and you rise feeling much better. Some of your attache have finally found the boldness to begin inquiring about you all, and about where you, and perhaps they, are heading now.
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr scampers about inside her cage, hoping that her friends will seek out somebody who can dispel magic or break enchantments.
Æthelmyr: Hint hint.
Keah (Eilir): I ask our followers if any of them can use the sort of magic we need.
Denzil: Attention everybody! We have some friends who are suffering from some nasty magic. If anybody knows someone who can dispel magic or break enchantments, we would very much appreciate it if you could point us in the right direction!
Avaril the Average: If none of them can help we can kill them all as punishment.
Campaign saved.
DM: One of them presents himself as a priest of Kord. He is very old and much weakened by his time in Arda’s cages, but he claims he is a sufficiently powerful cleric. He expresses how your victory over a great challenge was exciting and pleasing to Kord, and offers you the blessings of his god freely, so soon as he can obtain a new and proper holy symbol, his having been taken by the deceitful Drow witch.
Keah (Eilir): Does aethelmyr have a Kord symbol in her collection?
Æthelmyr attempts to shake her lizard head.
Avaril the Average: We’ll make one out of dirt.
Eilir: We will find you one, if you don’t mind travelling with us for a bit.
Campaign saved.
Avaril the Average: Bo-Taar can carry you. He’s good at carrying things.
Kord Priest: Certainly. Indeed, if I had the materials, I would fashion one myself! Is your next refuge near? I and these others need more rest than a night under the stars can offer to recover well.
Denzil: What materials do you need?
Kord Priest: Any sufficiently large bit of wood and a knife to carve it with would do for now.
Campaign saved.
DM: You proceed on to Lanera without much ado. At the first sight of the village, many of your new followers begin to weep in relief and joy. Your return quickly causes a small stir in the village, as well, and the elders who greeted you before soon face you once again in the village’s main street.
Keah (Eilir): Hopefully they’re happier now.
Æthelmyr is upset that she can’t tease the villagers with her draconic appearance.
Elder: Welcome back, bold travellers. I hope that the presence of your new and pitiable band of followers heralds good news.
Eilir: We have sent the temple back where it came from. I think. It kind of disappeared on us.
Denzil: And Arda’s dead.
Eilir: But the Drow manace is gone. These were the survivors we found in her dungeon.
Campaign saved.
Bo-Taar: And we freed this people
Elder (hesitantly): And was there any sign of our champions in this temple?
Eilir: Sadly, they were killed by the Drow sorceress.
Campaign saved.
Elder: I see. That is grave news indeed. But nonetheless, if you have removed the menace that ended them, our village owes you great thanks. Please, allow me to offer you a place at my humble estate to recover yourselves for as long as you require, and if there are any other small favors we may offer, you have but to ask,
Denzil: Can anyone think of anything we need?
Eilir: We need a holy symbol of Kord, for starters.
Campaign saved.
Avaril the Average: And payment for ridding you of the menace.
Bo-Taar: More rest would be nice too
Elder: I shall have one ordered for you immediately. Do you require it of wood, of metal, or of stone?
Eilir looks to the cleric who asked for it.
Æthelmyr nods her little lizard head.
Eilir: Do you have a preference?
Kord Priest: Wood suits me just fine. Though, I’ve never had a stone one before. That might be an interesting change.
Eilir: Stone then.
Elder: Very well. I’m afraid we have little to offer by way of payment but our services. Rest, we can offer plentifully.
Campaign saved.
Eilir: Thank you.
Keah (Eilir): to the humble estate for a rest. Bo-Taar, bring the cleric.
Denzil: Rest will be great.
Avaril the Average: Then you owe us.
Avaril the Average: And owing extremely powerful adventurers isn’t in the best interest of a small town.
Eilir: Shut up Avaril. Kindness returns itself in its own time.
Eilir: For every town we help and who are grateful for that help, we have a safe place to sleep when we pass through. That’s enough for me.
Avaril the Average: Yes, and we’re never returning.
Avaril the Average: 500 gold.
Eilir: You don’t know that.
Avaril the Average: Even if we do our money insures a place to sleep.
Eilir: Not if the people think us robbers and run us out of town. Or charge exorbitant prices.
Campaign saved.
DM: The elders take you to a large-ish house on the edge of the village. It is old and simple, but stately nonetheless. The decor inside is similar - well made carved wood, colorful fabric, and polished stone, but there is little of precious gems or metals. You are given three rooms together at one end of the house for your use, and a smaller room is made available for washing up and the like.
DM: A matronly serving woman busies herself tidying the rooms, drawing a bath, fixing a light meal, and whatever other odd tasks she thinks might be of use to you
Denzil: OK, is Æthelmyr locked up tight?
Denzil: Yes?
Denzil: Great.
Denzil: I think we’re set.
Denzil: I’m going to take a bath.
Avaril the Average: One of these rooms is exceedingly mine alone.
Avaril the Average: Lest one of my lovely companions want to share it.
Campaign saved.
ElectricCaveman: I’m sure Aethelmyr wouldn’t object too much tonight.
Avaril the Average: And I know the answer so I get a room to my own.
DSM (Avaril the Average): Lizards don’t count as people, they don’t have souls.
ElectricCaveman: At least, not very vocally.
dublish (Æthelmyr): I was going to say something, but I can’t speak. :)
Bo-Taar: We’ll just leave Xenia in the living room
Bo-Taar: as decoration
Eilir: I give Aethelmyr a piece of chalk.
Avaril the Average: If only we could rig up some sort of fountain with her.
Denzil: I don’t suppose anyone will steal her.
Keah (Eilir): please don’t grafitti the cleric.
DSM (Avaril the Average): Why chalk?
DSM (Avaril the Average): Lizard…
Keah (Eilir): that’s all i’ve got for writing. she can hold it in her mouth.
DSM (Avaril the Average): : \ Yeah, sure.
Æthelmyr attempts to write with the chalk. It’s awkward.
Eilir: Well it’s better than nothing.
Avaril the Average: I disagree.
Avaril the Average: We finally have a moment of silence from that retched beast and you still wish to ruin it.
Æthelmyr: U
Æthelmyr: R
Avaril the Average smudges out the letters as they’re being written.
Æthelmyr: mean
DM: The rest of the day passes quietly. While you are consuming the evening meal, the Kordic priest shows up with his shiny new holy symbol.
DM: In the mean time, Aethelmyr should make a Will save.
Avaril the Average -> [SAVE] Will [1d20+9 = 11]
Æthelmyr -> [SAVE] Will [1d20+6 = 10]
DSM (Avaril the Average): Use mine. It’s still better.

Æthelmyr goes to sleep.
DM: Aethelmyr becomes an ordinary lizard.
Avaril the Average: Want to see something amusing?
Avaril the Average shakes the cage a little bit.
Avaril the Average: Try it, it’s great fun.
Eilir: Don’t, Avaril!
Æthelmyr scampers around.
Avaril the Average: She’s put us through quite a bit, get your payback while you can.
Avaril the Average: You know, in a way this is what she’s always wanted.
Avaril the Average: She wanted to be a full lizard anyway.
Eilir: You wouldn’t happen to have knowledge of Dispel Magic, would you? I think our friend’s become a proper reptile.
DSM (Avaril the Average): META!
DSM (Avaril the Average): WEEOOOWEEEOOO!!! META ALERT! META ALERT!
Kord Priest: But of course, miss. And I’ve got ready a spell to fix your stony friend, too.
Eilir: Wonderful! Thank you.
DSM (Avaril the Average): dem
Campaign saved.
Keah (Eilir): DM’s prerogative.
Kord Priest goes to each of Xenia and Aethelmyr and casts the spells to fix them.
David (Bo-Taar): woooo!
Æthelmyr screams.
Æthelmyr: Give me my clothes back!
Kord Priest: Well, then, I’m glad I could help. If it were 20 years ago, I’d be of a mind to join you lot, but life has different challenges in store for folk my age.
Eilir returns her clothes.
Æthelmyr: Not cool!
Avaril the Average points and laughs hysterically.
Eilir: Welcome back, Xenia.
Avaril the Average: You were naked and it’s funny because it wasn’t me.
Avaril the Average continues to laugh.
Avaril the Average falls on the floor with laugher.
Æthelmyr kicks Avaril, then finds her clothes.
Campaign saved.
Xenia: Man, I am sore!
Æthelmyr keeps herself properly covered while finding her stuff.
Avaril the Average continues to laugh while rolling around on the floor, knocking over chairs and tables as he does so.
Æthelmyr: It’s not funny! I’ll turn you into a newt and see how you like it!
Campaign saved.
Kord Priest: Alright then, if there’s anything else I can hep you with, just let me know.
Eilir: Can you fix our wizard? I think he’s broken. He keeps making weird noises.
Kord Priest: I’m afraid there’s no fixing that, miss. But I don’t just mean magic, either. I don’t know where you’re all off to, but I know young people on a mission when I see them. I’ve seen more than my share of places in my lifetime.
Eilir: We’re headed to Parnath, actually.
Avaril the Average gets up off the floor.
Avaril the Average: You were naked and powerless and it was hilarious.
Æthelmyr returns to the room, fully dressed, stretching her wings.
Æthelmyr: I could do without being a lizard ever again.
Avaril the Average begins to carefully stack the inn’s chairs as high as possible.
Campaign saved.
DSM (Avaril the Average): someone’shouse’schair’s
Æthelmyr: Climbing straight up walls was fun though.
Kord Priest: Hmm, that won’t be a pleasant place for a group like yours. They take less kindly to such variety than where you all are from, as you’ve probably already been noticing.
Æthelmyr: Weird, but a little fun.
Æthelmyr: How so?
Æthelmyr: The people here didn’t like it much when we showed up, I don’t think they like dragons.
Æthelmyr: Or elves, or goliaths.
Kord Priest: Most people up there are not so tolerant of any people who aren’t human, or maybe halfling. Most of the other races in this part of the world are evil and agressive.
Avaril the Average: Eilir. Sit on this.
Kord Priest: Makes folks suspicious of everybody not like them.
Avaril the Average: I think it’s stable.
Æthelmyr: Hmmm.
Æthelmyr: I don’t know if I can hide my wings.
Campaign saved.
Kord Priest: You are in a bit of luck, though. That city’s hard on any religious folk, which is just the sort of challenge a lot of followers of Kord like. There’s a thriving little underground church there. Heck, a cult to be honest. But if you can prove yourself, they’ll help you out.
Æthelmyr: Maybe we can sneak into the city without being noticed?
Eilir: What do we need to do to prove ourselves?
Denzil: How can they not like the faithful? They don’t have any gods in Parnath?
Kord Priest (chuckling): Well, that depends on the priest up there. I’m sure he’ll whip up a clever and fitting challenge for such a curious crew as you lot.
Kord Priest: No, they don’t pay the gods much heed up there.
Kord Priest: But politics aren’t really my arena, so I couldn’t say too much of why.
Avaril the Average: So I won’t have any issues because the gods aren’t worth my time so the city will basically treat me like its savior when I step through its gates.
Eilir: Or you’ll blend into the crowd and we’ll never see you again.
Eilir: I’m not sure if that would be a good or a bad thing.
Æthelmyr: How are they with magic in general?

Kord Priest: Oh, any other supernatural powers they’re quite fond of. Arcana, psionics, even more esoteric arts like your friends’ soulmelding. But they sure look down on anybody who draws their power from a greater one, like clerics or even warlocks.
Denzil: Sweet. I’ll fit in fine then, right?
Eilir: Except for your ears.
Eilir: Avaril is probably the only one who can walk freely through the streets without too much trouble.
Bo-Taar: So how long are we staying here?
Campaign saved.
Denzil: If we’ve still got a ways to go to Parnath, we could finish recovering along the way.
Eilir: Until Xenia and Aethelmyr feel well and ready enough to travel.
Æthelmyr: I’m totally fine.
Æthelmyr: Nothing like getting back into your own skin to make you feel really really good.
DM: The priest makes some leisurely small talk and snatches a bit of your dinner before going back into the main part of the village.
DM: Anything else for the day?

Denzil: Good morning.
Elder: Well, I suppose the best way to ask this is to just do it outright. Since it’s apparent since you came back that our local heroes are gone from us forever, the elders were wondering if you lot might like the job.
Æthelmyr: Being local heroes?
Campaign saved.
Elder: They had a place on the other side of the village, set apart a bit from everywhere else. You’d be welcome to call it your home. They built it themselves, so it’s got all the proper facilities for people in your line of work.
Bo-Taar: What would be required of us?
Denzil: Having a safe haven would be nice.
Elder: Now, I’m nor pretending that the people around here would warm up to you very quickly. You’re much more… exotic than they’re accustomed to. It’s not that they aren’t greatful, you know. If you’d stick around, I’m sure they’d get used to you.
Avaril the Average: So there’s a problem with that.
Avaril the Average: We need to travel. In fact, we’re on a very important journey right now to save the entire world from drow and staying put in this shitty little town kind of interferes with that.
Elder: It’s just, these are dangerous lands and dangerous times. We could really use some people like yourselves around again. We’ve always taken good care of our champions. Almost like minor nobles, really. Some of the townsfolk will take care of the lands you’d own, and take their pay out of that. You’d hardly need to do anything to keep up the place.
Denzil: I think we should do it.
Denzil: Sounds like a deal.
Elder: We’re just worried, you see. It’s not just us, either. Mateo and his band protected all the isolated farms and some of the other hamlets around.
Campaign saved.
Æthelmyr: This would be a lot easier to agree to if we had a way to teleport back here whenever we wanted.
Æthelmyr: Maybe we should have gone to those nobles months ago when we were trying to get to the desert.
Bo-Taar: We really appriciate the offer
Elder: I’m rambling, I am sorry. But please, consider staying here. You have proven you are capable, and we really do need your help.
Bo-Taar: We’ll need to discuss this

Elder: Of course, I’ll let you be for a while. I’ll be in the sitting room when you are ready to discuss it further.
Denzil: How often were Mateo and his men in the area?
Denzil: Did they stay here?
Elder: Yes, they lived here year-round. They would sometimes venture forth on some specific quest for a few times, but they mostly took care of the people here, guarding against the more vicious monsters and savages that ravage this savannah.
Æthelmyr: I vote no. We have no idea where we’ll be needed after Parnath.
ElectricCaveman: *weeks
Eilir: Well… a few weeks at a time… how long has it been since we left home?
