The Legs of Lolth
Solovar is a thriving town on the desert side of the Spine of Taragin. It was once the key point of trade for the route through Duvik’s Pass, but unlike the town on the other side, Solovar continued to do well after the pass fell out of use. It is a key gathering place for residents of the eastern part of the desert, and the route by which most of the desert-dwellers’ supply of metal goods reaches them. Despite its importance, or perhaps because of it, Solovar is a nearly lawless place, on par with Sund and Resdern for unsavory dealers, if much smaller. It also happens to be one of the most racially integrated towns in Taragin; its highly transient population includes exotic species from all over the south of the continent.
Rumors abound that the area in which Solovar is built is tied very strongly to the Ethereal Plane. Disappearances are blamed on ghosts, ethereal marauders, and even more contemptible denizens of Phantus. Some even say that on certain nights of the year, the whole town slips into the Ether. Most intelligent creatures simply blame these ideas on crime, transience, and exotic desert liquors.
